ADAM POGOFF  Director / Writer / Producer

Adam is a Brooklyn-based director, producer, and cinematographer. Adam has been producing and directing feature documentaries (BRASSLANDS, 2013, The Orchard; UNTOUCHABLE, 2016, Tribeca Award-Winner), commissioned short films for broadcast, nonprofit and commercial for around a decade. His work has been published by The New York Times Op-Docs, on television (Sundance, MSNBC, Arte France), and online (, The Marshall Project, The Washington Post). BRASSLANDS and UNTOUCHABLE screened at over 70 festivals (Rotterdam, CPH:DOX, Thessaloniki, Tribeca) to notable acclaim. Adam’s storytelling celebrates the absurd and surreal in MESSIAHSEZ, his debut as a solo director. He has been a member of the Meerkat Media Collective since 2009.



SAMIN POGOFF  Editor / Co-Producer

Samin is a Brooklyn-based documentary filmmaker. Samin's editing and producing work has been broadcast on HBO, BBC and History Channel. She was an editor on the founding team of HBO's Vice News Tonight. Samin has been a member in residence at Meerkat Media Collective since 2014 and is currently an editing mentee at Karen Schmeer Diversity Program.




Dara Messinger is the Director of Public Programs at DCTV where she oversees the honored organization’s filmmaker services, education, outreach and partnerships, and serves as the programmer for its signature DCTV Presents screening and event series. Dara has been a member of Meerkat Media since 2008, and co-directed BRASSLANDS. 




Jay Arthur Sterrenberg is a Canadian American documentary director & editor whose work has appeared in theaters, on HBO, Arte, ESPN, and PBS. Documentary editing credits include DARK MONEY (Sundance in competition, 2018), TROPHY (Sundance, 2017), Tribeca award winning UNTOUCHABLE  (2016), NARCO CULTURA (Cinedigm, 2013), Academy Award nominated REDEMPTION (HBO, 2013), Emmy Nominated SECTION 60 (HBO, 2008). Jay co-founded the Meerkat Media Collective in 2005 and has been a member-owner of the New Day Films documentary distribution cooperative since 2009.




Eric is a cinematographer based in New York. Some of his featured work includes broadcast television (PBS, History Channel, Biography Channel, MTV, Nickelodeon, Arte France), documentary and independent festival circuits (Sundance, Tribeca, LA International, CPH:DOX, Rotterdam, Rooftop Films) and online syndications (The New Yorker, The Atlantic, Huffington Post, TED, IndieWire). He was the principal cinematographer on Stray Dog, which A.O. Scott called “passionate cinema verité” and the Village Voice wrote “captures scenes of rare power.” Eric is a co-founder of Meerkat Media.



BRYAN CHANG  Cinematography

Bryan Chang is a documentary film director, cinematographer, and editor whose films have been featured by The New York Times, The Atlantic, and MoMA, screened at Sundance, and distributed theatrically. He is co-director of the feature-length documentary BRASSLANDS, lead editor of the award-winning NARCO CULTURA. He edited on the Emmy-nominated documentary series A YEAR IN SPACE, and is a member of Meerkat Media.



Jeff Sterrenberg is primarily a non-fiction and experimental filmmaker based in Brooklyn, New York. His work has been screened at festivals around the world including CPH:DOX, The New Olreans Film Festival, IFFR in Rotterdam, The LA Film Festival, Rooftop Films and many more.  He went to Emerson College where he holds a BA in film and documentary. Jeff has been a member of Meerkat since 2009


LJOVA  Composer

Ljova is a composer, arranger and musician. His sound is distinct and blends classical, jazz, folk and other genres. He divides his time between composing for the concert stage, contemporary dance & film, leading his own ensemble LJOVA AND THE KONTRABAND, as well as a busy career as a violist, violinist & musical arranger. Among recent projects is a commission from the City of London Sinfonia, a string quartet for Brooklyn Rider, Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble, The Knights, Sybarite5 and A Far Cry. As an arranger, Ljova has completed dozens of musical arrangements for Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble, the Kronos Quartet, Bond, Matmos, The Los Angeles Philharmonic and San Francisco Symphony.


ESY CASEY  Graphic Design

Esy Casey is a designer / filmmaker whose work was been published internationally through Henry Holt, Bloomsbury, and Collins Design, including the award-winning modern visual reference guide SHOW ME HOW. She's shot several films including JEEPNEY (PBS), and plans to do this narrative art thing forever, no matter what forms it evolves into.



Meerkat Media is a New York film collective since 2005. The Collective is a made up of an annual residency and production company, and supports around 15 artists in annual residencies. Meerkat produced or partnered with feature documentaries premiering in competition at Sundance (DARK MONEY, 2018; TROPHY Reel Peak Films, 2017; NARCO CULTURA, 2013; plus Tribeca Award-Winning UNTOUCHABLE, 2016; and BRASSLANDS (2013, The Orchard) co-written by 10 Meerkats.
